Supporting INDIGINOUs MEDICINE RESEARCH using latest available technology
Supporting Indigenous Medicine Research
Dedicated to furthering scientific understanding and therapeutic application of consciousness-expanding medicines used by indigenous peoples.
Mission
After nearly 5 years of internal private research, First Peoples Medicine Institute was incorporated as a Research Non-Profit in the State of Alaska on August 20, 2024. Native and non-native therapy facilitators have been providing critical mental health services by providing traditional native cleansing ceremony treatments for native and non-native Alaskan’s using the naturally occurring compound PSILOCYBIN found in certain species of mushroom. This medication has been in constant use by native peoples throughout the world for thousands of years. Unfortunately, a stigma of this medication was created in the 1970’s and the FDA assigned it a Schedule 1 drug along with other Psychedelics. Psilocybin currently is classified as a Schedule I drug in the United States, meaning it has a high potential for misuse and no currently accepted medical use in treatment. We disagree completely.
However, in 2018, the FDA designated psilocybin as a breakthrough therapy, recognizing its therapeutic potential and streamlining the path from research to approval. First Peoples Medicine Institute (FPMI) is a medical research organization dedicated to supporting and conducting basic, pre-clinical and clinical research to further the scientific understanding and therapeutic application of naturally occurring consciousness-expanding medicines used by indigenous peoples for thousands of years. By combining spiritual connection to tribal lineage, customs and teachings along with using the latest scientific technologies in production, immersive 432 Hz deep healing music, facilitators using native language in treatment sessions, and scientifically tracking progress by utilizing custom EEG hardware and software.
Uptake Detection in the Brain
Brain Monitoring using wireless EEG systems administered concurrently with a treatment session including before state and event-related protocols and ongoing treatment recording. We utilize customized quantitative EEG analysis, biomarker development and implementation. Biomarker specializations include mood disorders and neuropsychiatric diseases.
Vision
(FPMI) Institute is founded on the principle that the values of science, business, and human well-being intersect in ways that enable creative solutions to flourish and benefit humanity. Acknowledging these interdependencies, (FPMI) cultivates its environment to allow employees to flourish, develop deep and enduring relationships with all constituencies, explore new perspectives and possibilities, and create life-changing experiences for every individual.
Research
Nearly a hundred Phase I, II, and III studies have been performed all over the world, but the most recent studies here in the US have had the most impact. The overall success rate for treatment is nearly 80%. Unfortunately, due to stigmas as being labeled quacks and other characterizations, the majority of MD’s who provide traditional mental health services recognize the potential success of these studies and are privately very supportive of our effort, but only a few will put themselves forward risking ridicule within the tight knit community of MD’s, and accept the fear of obtaining Investigational product that meets current pharma grade standards of potency and quality, and the possibility they might lose their DEA script writing ability for scheduled medications.
Uptake Detection in the Brain
We use a cloud-based EEG system that ensures secure and flexible patient monitoring. Additionally, remote access to live-streamed EEG data on a secure cloud platform, complete with data archiving and video recordings. With its comprehensive detection and advanced reporting tools, it aids in precise analysis and documentation. Our focus is the treatment of indigenous society’s most challenging mental health conditions for which existing treatments and resources fall short.
